Everything you need to know about Speed Angel before downloading.
Speed Angel can't guarantee anything — only you control the car. But most speeding fines happen when drivers simply lose track of their speed and/or the speed limit. Speed Angel alerts you the moment you exceed its displayed limit, so accidental creep and missing that sudden 30mph sign is much less likely. Many drivers find it reduces the stress of worrying about speed cameras too. If you are not speeding, cameras are just furniture.
Yes — Speed Angel is free to download and includes a full 14-day trial with no restrictions. No payment details required to start. After the trial, you can continue with a low-cost subscription billed through Google Play.
Coverage is very good on most UK roads. Some minor rural roads may have incomplete speed limit data. Coverage improves continuously as the database is updated. Temporary speed limits, road works and variable limits are not covered. Speed Angel is a driving awareness aid and it is your legal responsibility to observe and comply with the posted speed limit.
Search for Speed Angel on Google Play and install it — or use the Download button above. It's free to download with a 14-day full trial included.
No. Speed Angel uses Android's audio ducking system — the same mechanism used by Google Maps. The warning tone briefly lowers navigation audio, plays, then navigation audio returns.
Press the "Report wrong limit" button in the app. This triggers an immediate re-check from the database and updates memory.
No — and that's deliberate. The aim of Speed Angel is to help you stay safe and legal within the limit, not just slow down for cameras. If you're not speeding, you don't need to be concerned about where cameras are. Besides, if you rely on camera alerts, it's the pop-up temporary mobile camera that isn't on any list that will get you.
No. GPS coordinates are used only to look up the speed limit in real time. We do not store journey history or build any record of your location. See our Data Policy for full details.

Not if you don't want it to be. Speed Angel is fully configurable — from a gentle nudge to a more persistent alert that's hard to ignore.
It was built by a driver who needed something that genuinely stopped him getting another ticket. Even when you're trying your best, there are moments you miss a speed limit change or your speed creeps up without realising — and that's usually when the mobile camera van appears.
A single "first beep" can be easy to forget, and speed can drift up again. That's why Speed Angel can (if you choose) keep reminding you until you slow down — persistent enough that you'll want to ease off just to stop the warning.
Yes. Speed Angel displays a live fuel price layer on the map showing petrol stations near you, with prices colour-coded green (cheapest), amber (average), and red (dearest). Tap any station marker to see the exact price in pence per litre and the station name. You can switch between petrol and diesel in Settings and turn the layer on or off at any time. You can also check live fuel prices on our website without the app.
Prices are refreshed every 12 hours from the UK Government's Fuel Finder API (the same official source used by gov.uk). Coverage includes over 7,500 petrol stations across the UK. Individual retailers report price changes to the Government database at varying intervals, so very recent changes at a specific station may take up to 24 hours to appear. The timestamp of the last data update is shown in the fuel status details within the app.
